9 May Europe Day is a very important date as the very first steps of foundation of European Union are taken then. European Youth Week is one-week period campaign during which a lot of activities all around Europe are organized, such as meetings by Eurodesk multipliers for youth information.

9 May was a fully active day in İstanbul. YOUTHART, giving chances to the youth to enjoy European opportunies for more than 7 years, realized two important activities on 9 May, Europe Day.

The first activity was in the morning. YOUTHART Media Team gave a “training on interview techniques” to about 30 participants in Sultanahmet within the project titled “Collaboration for Participation of Youth”, funded by Civil Society Dialogue Programme. It was very important that the
trainers of this training got their media trainer certificates within our project titled “Citizens Media for Intercultural and Political Dialogue”, also funded by Civil Society Dialogue Programme. The event was a process of active learning and experiences for both sides.

Program started with theoretical introduction of interview. What’s Interview, Aims and Question Techniques? What’s the scope of an interview and why is it made? What are the types? What are the outcomes and where are they used? How is the Interviewee, Question and Theme triangle prepared? Then, all these topics are applied through a game with fun.

Later, there were more practical activities. What are Angles, Golden Proportion, Image Composition? What are the image angles, and how are they used? How is an interview atmosphere created, how is the location decided? How should the background and details look?

In the last session, participants had the chance to apply what they have learned. Interview questions were prepared about “Youth Participation”, and participants asked these questions to each other.

YOUTHART Media Team will continue to support youth about media, give trainings and assist the media activities of project promoting civil society dialogue.

The other activity that we enjoyed 9 May Europe Day was in the afternoon. “European Opportunities Conversations” was organized within European Youth Week in KariyerIST Career and Entrepreneurship Centre in Şişli, İstanbul, in cooperation with KariyerIST and Ge-Si.
